The STA Certificate in Swimming Teaching aims to prepare holders to teach, without supervision, pupils of all levels.
This is a four day course which is both internally and externally assessed at the end of the course by an external examiner and ongoing assessment due to the completion of portfolios, lesson plans and schemes of work.
All participants on this course must be a minimum of 16 years old and hold STA membership as well as the STA Award in Teaching Swimming.
The Swimming Teachers’ Association STA Level 2 Certificate in Swimming Teaching (QCF) can be undertaken after passing the STA Level 2 Award in Swimming Teaching. We recommend before undertaking this course you also gain experience teaching. On successful completion of this nationally recognised course you will be able to work as a swimming teacher, without supervision teaching learners of all levels and delivering the STA’s International Learn to Swim Scheme. You may also supervise an assistant swimming teacher or an STA Level 2 Award Swimming Teacher delivering their lessons to larger class sizes or advanced skills.
Note: If the requested pre-requisites are not supplied within 12 months of the course end date, the qualification will expire Validity of Award The qualification does not have an expiry date.
