The STA Award in Swimming Teaching aims to produce teachers that can teach up to 10 beginners and deliver the STAnley Series of awards, as well as the Octopus and Goldfish Series of STA’s International Learn to Swim Programme.
They may also act as an assistant swimming teacher and can teach larger classes or advanced skills under the direct supervision of a swimming teacher qualified to certificate level.
This is a five day course which is both internally and externally assessed at the end of the course by an external examiner and ongoing assessment due to the completion of portfolios, lesson plans and schemes of work.
All participants on this course must be a minimum of 16 years old and hold STA membership.
The Swimming Teachers Association STA Level 2 Award in Swimming Teaching (QCF) is your first stepping stone on your swimming teaching career. On successful completion of this nationally recognised course you will be able to work as a swimming teacher, teaching up to 10 beginners to swim, delivering the STA STAnley Series of awards as well as the Octopus and Goldfish Series of the STA’s International Learn to Swim Scheme. You may also act as an assistant swimming teacher and deliver lessons to larger class sizes or advanced skills if working directly under the supervision of an STA Level 2 Certificate Swimming Teacher.
Note: If the requested pre-requisites are not supplied within 12 months of the course end date, the qualification will expire Validity of Award The qualification does not have an expiry date.
